Privacy
This page covers the waitlist form on this site. It is not the app's privacy policy. The app will handle workout and heart rate data, which is a much bigger disclosure, and it gets written against the real thing before the app ships.
What Zonesplit is right now
Zonesplit is a project, not a company and not yet a product. There is no app you can download. It is being built by one person who trains in these classes, and it may or may not become a finished app or a business. We are telling you that before you hand over an email address, because a waitlist that implies more than exists is the easiest thing in the world to write by accident.
If it does not proceed, the list is deleted. See How long it is kept below.
Who we are
Zonesplit is a project of Extracting Ideas Pty Ltd (ACN 697 943 990), Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. That company is the operator and the entity responsible for the personal information described here.
Questions, requests and complaints go to privacy@zonesplit.app.
What you tell us
The fields on the form, and the reason each one is there.
- Email address
- So we can email you when your setup is supported, and, if you told us what you are competing in, occasional training content that matches it. Nothing else, and either stops the moment you ask.
- Which watch you wear
- Apple Watch, Garmin, Samsung, other, or no watch yet. This decides which platform gets built next.
- Which watch, if you picked other
- Optional, and only asked if you told us your watch is not one of the ones listed. It is how we understand demand for platforms we have not built for yet, so an unlisted watch counts for something instead of disappearing into "other".
- Which phone you carry
- iPhone or Android. Your watch and phone together are what determines build order, which is why both are asked.
- Where you train
- Optional, and you can pick more than one. This is the launch map. Those are other companies' brand names, used only to identify where you train. Zonesplit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of them.
- Which location
- Optional, and only asked once you have picked where you train. A studio or suburb name, not a street address, and we do not want one. It is how we know which studios have people waiting, so we know where to launch and who to talk to when we do. You can type anything, including a studio that is not in the suggestions.
- What you are training for
- Optional, and you can pick more than one. Events like HYROX, CrossFit or a marathon, or none right now. It is used to send you training content that matches what you are preparing for, such as competition-prep sessions. It has no effect on build order or on your place in the queue.
What we record about your signup
We did not ask you for these. They are created or captured at the moment you submit the form, and they are listed here for the same reason as everything else: because they exist.
- A record identifier
- A random internal id for your row, so the database can refer to it. It means nothing outside the database and is not derived from anything about you.
- The date and time you signed up
- Recorded when the row is created. It is what your place in the queue is worked out from.
- When your answers last changed
- If you sign up again with the same email we update your answers rather than making a second record, and this is when that last happened.
- The page you came from
- The address your browser reports as the page you followed a link from, if it reports one. It tells us where signups are coming from. Nothing else is taken from the request. Your IP address is not stored.
What we do not collect
No name, no phone number, no gym membership number, and no check on whether you are a member anywhere. There is no mechanism to check and we do not want one. Your answers are what you typed, not something verified about you.
Where it is stored, and who sees it
The waitlist lives in a Supabase Postgres database, written only by this site's server code. The credentials that write to it never reach your browser.
When you sign up, a notification email is sent to us so we know a signup arrived. It contains the answers you gave and is delivered via Resend, an email service. Resend handles that message and stores nothing else about you.
It is never sold, rented, swapped, or shared with any gym, franchise or other third party. The only companies involved are the ones running the infrastructure it sits on, listed in the next section, and they process it on our behalf rather than using it themselves.
If the project moves to another company. Zonesplit may later be run by a different company: a new entity set up for it, or a related company, or a business that takes it over. If that happens, the information described on this page may be transferred to that company as part of the Zonesplit business.
Any company that takes it on is bound by the commitments on this page. The list does not become something else because the letterhead changed. If the new operator ever wants to use your information in a way this page does not allow, it has to ask you first.
Cookies and third parties
This site sets no cookies. There are no advertising pixels, no session recording, no social widgets, and no third-party scripts other than the analytics beacon described below. Fonts are served from this domain, so loading a page does not tell a font provider that you visited.
Four services are involved in running this site, and nothing else:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and serves every page. As with any host, it receives the requests your browser makes, including your IP address.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics measures how pages perform and how many visits there are. It loads a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com, which is a request to Cloudflare rather than to us. In Cloudflare's own words, it does not use "any client-side state, like cookies or localStorage, for the purposes of tracking users", and does not "fingerprint individuals via their IP address, User Agent string, or any other data for the purpose of displaying analytics". Cloudflare counts a visit from the referring page rather than by identifying you, and its documentation states it does not track individual end users across its customers' sites. Those are Cloudflare's statements about its own product, so we have linked them rather than ask you to take our word for it.
- Supabase stores the waitlist rows described above.
- Resend delivers the signup notification email to us. It carries your answers to us and goes nowhere else. The only email sent to you through it, or through anything else, is the one you signed up for, plus the competition content described above if you picked a competition. No other marketing email is sent to you, ever.
How long it is kept
Until the app launches and you have been told, or until you ask for it to go. If the project never becomes a product, the list is deleted rather than kept for something else.
Getting a copy, or getting deleted
Email privacy@zonesplit.app and say which you want. You will get a copy of your row or it will be deleted, and nobody will try to talk you out of it. Every email we send also carries a one-click unsubscribe.
Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). That includes your right to access what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and complain if you think we have mishandled it. Write to privacy@zonesplit.app first and we will deal with it. If you are not satisfied, you can escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes in the same release. It lives in the same repository as the form, so it cannot quietly drift out of date.
